Minimum requirements


  • Qualified Retired Law Enforcement Officer  - An individual who:
  • Retired in good standing from service with a public agency as a law enforcement officer, other than for reasons of mental instability;
  • Before such retirement, was authorized by law to engage in or supervise the prevention, detection, investigation or prosecution of, or the incarceration of any person for, any violation of law, and had statutory powers of arrest;
  • Before such retirment, was regularly employed as a law enforcement officer for an aggregate of 10 years of more; or retired from service with such agency after completing any applicable probationary period of such service due to a service connected disability, as determined by such agency;
  • Has a nonforfeitable right to benefits under the retirerment plan of the agency;
  • Is not under the influence of alsohol or another intoxicating or hullucinartory drug or substance,and;
  • is not prohibited by Federal law from receiving a firearm.
  • Posesses a valid LTC
  • Photo Identification card from the law enforcement agency once employed and is seperated from, issued by the Chief Law Enforcemnt Officer which meets the requirements of 501 CMR 13.00 STANDARDS FOR IDENTIFICATION CARDS FOR RETIRED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICE 
  • Otherwise eligable to receive a LEOSA CARD
