ALL CLASSES ARE HELD IN OUR SCHOOL LOCATED AT 103 SWANSEA MALL DRIVE (Old Liberty Travel Building). THESE CLASSES WILL BE TAUGHT BY AN NRA CERTIFIED CHIEF RANGE SAFETY OFFICER AS YOUR INSTRUCTOR.

Directions:

     From Providence, RI or points north, enter  Rt. I-195 East and drive approximately 8 miles to Exit 5, Make a left at the traffic light onto Rt 6 east and follow that 4 traffic lights to Swansea Mall Drive.  Make a left onto Swansea Mall Drive (RT 118) and about 2 blocks on the right is the former Liberty Travel.  That is where classes a now held

     From Fall River or points East take RT I-195 West to Exit 8.  Make a left off the exit onto Rt 6 east. There is a sign directing you to Swansea Mall.  At the next traffic light make a left onto Swansea Mall Drive.  We are located in the former Liberty Travel office.  That is were classes are now held.

COMPREHENSIVE RANGE SAFETY OFFICER TRAINING


  • Learn the purpose of the range Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Learn the procedures of inspecting a range prior to live fire
  • Conduct a range safety briefing
  • Learn the proper emergency procedures
  • Learn how to safely unload a gun and correct stoppages and malfunctions
  • What is the purpose of the SOP
  • As an RSO you will supervise shooting activities and prescribed by the range Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • You as an RSO have overall responsibility for safe gun handling and shooting everywhere on the range prenises
  • Learn the contents of the SOP which is determined by the range owner and what is includes
  • Learn the basic inspection procedures for tanges
  • What ate the four types of shooting range rules
  • Inspecting an indoor range
  • Inspecting an outdoor range
  • What to do if you are at a range when no RSO is present or assigned
  • Special Range Safety Rules for pregnant women, children under seven
  • Tailored for a particular shooting range, authorized guns, calibers, ammunition types and limitations
  • RSO provides rules for special types of shooting events (e,g, Muzzle loading)
  • Administrative Rules, Hours of operation, schedule of activities, how the range facility operates
  • Enforcement of range rules where the RSO is guided by the SOP
